Afrikadaa #17, Politics of Sound #2 (2025)
Article:

Buits blancs, note sur les fréquences de l'effacement

[White Noises, a note on the frequencies of erasure]
Published March 2025.

This experimental text considers white noise, the sound made up of all audible frequencies, as a metaphor for erasure. It imagines other ways of listening, based on porosity rather than masking, and calls for a tactile, decolonial epistemology.

It extends research begun under the MIRA grant (Institut français, 2024) and resonates with the sound installation Loharano, presented at Is'Art Galerie, Antananarivo, in 2023.

About the magazine
Afrikadaa is published by the association AFRIKADAA, founded in March 2012 by the magazine's editorial team to promote art and artists from or connected to the African continent and its diasporas. This issue, Politics of Sound #2, explores music as a social and political force: a form of listening that escapes the visible and can hear the world in ways the gaze tends to mask.
