Loharano

Electroacoustic Composition

7”20

2023

The composition immerses us in a particular sonic landscape, that of a threshold between the world of the livings and the world of ancestors.

Loharano means 'the source' in the Malagasy language.
It is made up of field recordings collected in the Boeny region of Madagascar.

The piece, played through headphones, was part of an immersive installation featuring a sculpture by artist Bazou-K and a mapped video by Toky Andrianjafitsara, exhibited as part of the Feon'ala exhibition at the Isart Gallery in Antananarivo in January 2023.

The piece has also been interpretated on acousmonium (loud speaker orchestra) several times, notably in 2023 at Murs à Pèches, Montreuil, FR, and at the Auditorium Jacques Brel, Pantin, FR.
